eco-friendly wedding gowns | denver bridal stylist

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something “green”?

Do you want to wear an earth friendly gown on your big day and still look unforgettable? You have many options to find the dress of your dreams and still hold onto your green principles!

Lovingly-worn or vintage: the most eco-friendly way to be green since no new resources are being exploited.

Vintage Wedding Gown from Posh Girl Vintage

Wearing a dress from a previous generation is the most nostalgic way to recycle a wedding gown. You may not be the same size or love the style of the gown that your mom or grandmother wore, but if you are set on wearing it, take it to a wedding seamstress and see what your possibilities are. You may be able to utilize the entire gown or part of it such as the details or trim.

Denver Wedding Videography | Live Web Podcast

Denver_Wedding_Videography_Live_Web_Broadcast

Recently, we had the pleasure of providing videography for Marcee and Heski’s wedding at the Westin Tabor Center in Denver. Heski is from Great Britain and his father couldn’t make it to Denver to see his son get married so we broadcast their wedding live over the internet! Here’s what Marcee and Heski had to say about their live web wedding broadcast:

“We’ve heard back from friends and family from Israel, Australia, the UK, Michigan and New York, who wrote to tell us how excited they were to see us, and how it really made them feel a part of our celebration. It was wonderful for us to include them and it all worked out beautifully!!!”

If you’re looking for a great way to share your day with friends and family that can’t make it, consider a live web podcast of your wedding. Your guests can even chat live during the broadcast! Contact 1321 Studios Videography for more information.

Wedding Trend ~ Vintage Jewelry Bouquet

One of our brides came to us recently, and presented the idea of having a bouquet created made form vintage jewelry in a set color palette. Now, this vintage trend is all around us! We especially love the work of Fantasy Floral Design, who specialize in vintage jewelry bouquets. A few examples of their beautiful work:

finding “the dress” | denver bridal stylist

As soon as you set the date and location of your wedding, get started looking for the dress of your dreams. “The dress” will set the tone for your entire wedding: the feel, the formality, and the entire wedding party attire. Here are a few tips to make finding the dress of your dreams a little less stressful:

1. Create a vision board. Start by looking in bridal magazines, websites, blogs, and wedding photography sites. Create a vision board by cutting and pasting all of the pictures you collect. Look at the shape, neckline, materials, details, headpieces, jewelry and overall feel of all of the pictures you find- you will start to see a theme of dresses and styles you are drawn to.

2. Set a budget. Decide how much you (or whoever is buying the gown) want to spend. Be clear. Is the amount set aside just for the dress? Does it account for alterations? Make a list of everything you think you may need: alterations, shoes, accessories, a headpiece or veil, jewelry, and foundation pieces. Nothing is more stressful than falling in love with a gown that is out of your price range.

3. Set a shopping date. Call the bridal salon ahead of time to book your appointment. Ask a friend or relative to go with you but choose carefully. Make sure it is someone who knows you really well and can be honest but kind. Remember- this is all about you, your style, and what you love for your day, not theirs.

4. Go shopping. Communicate with the bridal shop staff about your style, taste, budget, shape, and details. Bring along your vision board and show them your ideas! They know their stock better than anyone and will get you started in the right direction.

5. Buy the one you love. Once you find the dress of your dreams- stop looking. Don’t overwhelm yourself with all of the possibilities out there. Stick with the one you fell in love with- just like the person you’re going to marry.

Wedding Inspiration ~ Waiting for Spring

With a light dusting of snow on the ground here in Colorado, we are anxious for the first sign of spring! I know we’re only barely halfway through winter, but this image found on Pretty Good made us smile…

Martha Stewart Weddings ~ Bravo, Martha, Bravo!

Rumor has it that Martha Stewart Weddings is featuring a same sex wedding in the upcoming Winter issue (see sneak peek courtesy of 100 Layer Cake below). MS Weddings has always a trailblazer in the wedding industry, and at A Touch of Bliss we are ecstatic to see a media powerhouse publish something we already know: Love is for everyone, and marriage should be too! Way to go Darcy! Bravo!
